Web Site
As of April 11, 2009 the site has had almost 19,000 visitors from
more than 50 countries.
The webcam/Maxi-cam is a Logitech QuickCam Pro9000. Images (640 x
480) are uploaded to the Earthlink website using TinCam every 15 seconds. The website was constructed using Trellix Site Builder.
The camera itself was originally set up on the whelping box in the front bedroom for the first four weeks. When the pups
moved to the pen in the kitchen where they slept and spent the day, the computer was moved to the kitchen with them. When
the puppies moved to the playpen in the living room the camera was unplugged from one cable and moved with them to be plugged
into a longer cable. When the little guys returned to the kitchen, the camera also returned. Alignment was maintaind by placing
the tripod on tape marks on the floor in each of the three rooms. For Max the camera is set up in the den. Ambient
light was the only lighting used.
When Lucy was adopted, the adoptive father was in another state. While
his wife and daughter selected their puppy (they were the first) he watched the computer via the puppycam and they spoke on
cell phones.
Useless, but true.
