The resident Westies in the foster home are Bob and Sophie Rose. Bob was adopted
last March from the Westie Club of the South. He was raised as "Bam-Bam" along with "Pebbles" in a family with small children.
Unfortunately, Westies and children often do not mix well. The home he was fostered in has a Westie named "McCartney" and,
while there, "Bam-Bam" became "Bobby." Bob is the embodiment of Westie traits. He is a varminter or ratter of great skill
(or so he believes). There is not a squirrel, chipmunk, rabbit, mole, or other creature that comes through the yard without
Bob giving alarm or furious chase. Fortunately for the little critters his success rate is almost zero. In the house
Bob is the ultimate lap dog. He is the kind of dog that makes you feel good no matter how rotten the day has been.
When Bob was adopted there was a very frail 17-year-old Pomeranian in the house
who died of old age and natural causes last summer. It took time to find a replacement, but Sophie Rose was found in a nearby
kill shelter with one day to go. Sophie is a playful little girl with great Westie features. She and Bob are building
a great rapport and playfully chase each other around the house and the yard. When they quit, they crash which is what makes
them such perfect dogs.
Bob's whole story is on the Westie Club of the South's website:
